The American Medical Informatics Association’s (AMIA) Nursing Informatics Working Group (NIWG) is hosting an AMIA members-only webinar honoring the late Dr. Virginia Saba on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM Eastern time.

Dr. Virginia K. Saba was a multifaceted nurse informaticist. However, not all nurse informaticists, especially nurses just entering informatics practice, are aware of her profound impact on the evolution of informatics. Although many experienced informatics nurses, had the opportunity to meet and work with Dr. Saba, they have not shared with others the impact Dr. Saba had on their careers. The purpose of this webinar is to discuss the most notable accomplishments of Dr. Saba as a trailblazer, mentor, and preserver of nursing informatics history.

Objectives: 

1. Enumerate the Nursing Informatics accomplishments of Dr. Saba as a trailblazer

2. Discuss Dr. Saba’s role as a mentor in Nursing Informatics

3. Examine Dr. Saba’s vision to preserve the history of nursing informatics

Speakers: Dr. Roy Simpson, Dr. Bonnie Westra, and Ms. Denise Goldsmith.
