ANIA Midwest - Health Information Data Visualization Design Webinar

The Midwest Chapter of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA) is hosting a webinar on Health Information Data Visualization Design on May 18, 2022, from 11:00 am Central to 12:00 pm Central (noon Eastern to 1 pm Eastern). From the registration page: Healthcare is becoming increasingly data-driven, and nurse informaticists are at the forefront of that transition. With this growth in data, there is a significant need to display complex data in ways that support clinician and patient decision-making. Unfortunately, health data visualizations are often poorly designed, despite there being known data visualization design best practices. This session will describe data visualization best practices and how those best practices can be applied within health informatics. Our presenter is Jenna Marquard, Ph.D.  Dr. Marquard is a Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota. Her research lies at the intersection of human factors engineering and health informatics. The vision for her research is to help clinicians and patients make better decisions by providing them with the right information, at the right time, in the right format. Learning objectives:

  1. Describe how to choose whether to use a table or graph to display data
  2. Describe best practices for data table design and the benefits of standardization of tools and workflows
  3. Understand how to choose what type of graph to use
  4. Recognize best practices for graph design

Pre-registration, email, session attendance, and survey completion are required for nursing education credit. Nursing education credit is offered in conjunction with Indiana University Health and provisioned by the Ohio Nurses Association.  The Ohio Nurses Association will award contact hours in adherence with ANCC criteria. If the follow-up survey does not arrive as expected, please check your junk or spam folders (many organizations have strengthened security with external email).  Also consider using a personal email for registration of organizational firewalls prohibit delivery. When registering, please look carefully at your input email (as miskeys can make things challenging). For more information, contact Bonnie Norris.
