AMIA 2022 Annual Conference Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for the AMIA 2022 Annual Conference being held November 5-9, 2022 in Washington DC at the Washington Hilton hotel.

From the conference website:

The Annual Symposium builds on more than 45 years of sharing research and insights for leveraging health information and cutting-edge technologies to improve human health. Scientific evidence is the language of trust in healthcare, and this year’s theme is Informatics: Building the Evidence Base.

Among many other things, 2020 made us aware of the value of our community – a community that we have missed: colleagues, mentors, experts, and students with a shared interest in informatics. The past few years demonstrated the necessity in our country for access to information to improve health and health care, and the need for professionals to use and apply that information to transform health care.

About the American Medical Informatics Association

From amia.org:

AMIA ® (American Medical Informatics Association ®) is a community committed to the vision of a world where informatics transforms people’s care. Over the last 35 years, the use of informatics has grown exponentially to improve health and to make better healthcare decisions. Today, informatics is the key to accelerating the current goals of healthcare reform.

Every day millions of people benefit from informaticians’ ability to accelerate healthcare’s transformation by collecting, analyzing and applying data directly to care decisions. Data produced throughout health and healthcare is the driving force of informatics and its ability to innovate critical advancements that directly benefit people. AMIA’s members are critical to discovering these insights, which is why AMIA is committed to being the professional home for the informaticians of today and the driver of informatics’ future.

Changing the Way We Approach Health and Healthcare

Through education, training, accreditation and certification, AMIA supports the current and next generation of informatics professionals by:

Providing members opportunities to grow professionally, no matter what their career level or discipline.
Fostering collaboration and networking to support members’ work to improve people’s lives.
Expanding members’ leadership opportunities within the association and in the field.

Mission and History

AMIA aims to lead the way in transforming health care through trusted science, education, and the practice of informatics. AMIA connects a broad community of professionals and students interested in informatics. AMIA is the bridge for knowledge and collaboration across a continuum, from basic and applied research to the consumer and public health arenas.

AMIA’s Nursing Informatics Working Group (NIWG)

AMIA also has a Nursing Informatics Working Group that will be hosting a Nursing Informatics Working Group Breakfast and Special Event on Sunday, November 6 from 7:30 am – 11:30 am as well as a Nursing Informatics Working Group reception on Tuesday, November 8 from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

The NIWG’s LinkedIn profile has the following to say about the group:

Nursing Informatics is the “science and practice (that) integrates nursing, its information, and knowledge, with management of information and communication technologies to promote the health of people, families, and communities worldwide.” (IMIA Special Interest Group on Nursing Informatics 2009). The application of nursing informatics knowledge is empowering for all healthcare practitioners in achieving patient-centered care.

The Nursing Informatics Working Group (NIWG) community provides the opportunity to learn from, and network with, nursing informatics leaders from across the country and world through our larger connection to the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). We come together as a community with annual objectives to support nurses and the greater AMIA membership. Our goal is to encourage greater NIWG participation in AMIA while mentoring NIWG members throughout their informatics careers.
